Who likes to combine arts and crafts with voice over? You got it! This girl!
After having a rough and dry spell with my VO, I started to get whacked-out with poo brain, constantly over-thinking things. Did my techniques get stale? Did my studio suddenly suck? Did some alien land in my yard, invade my bedroom in my sleep and replace my vocal chords with Twizzlers? Argh why?!?!?! I saw this how-to video a while back and wanted to give the DIY project a go, in the name of home studio improvements!
I decided to make a few modifications on this though. Instead of a plastic bin, I used a cardboard box. I thought it would be nice to recycle, and I feel the cardboard would absorb sound better. I didn’t want any echo from plastic. Another vast improvement I made was…ADDING KITTIES, RHINESTONES and GLITTER!
This is a useful and super adorable addition to my booth. I don’t know how much cleaner it makes my recordings (if at all), but it hasn’t made things worse. I’ve booked a gig or two since building it. It could be the mic box helped, or it could be the new project lifted my spirits and boosted my confidence. Who knows? Who cares? It has rainbow kittens, and that’s all that matters!
